Lesson #4: Choose your F*cks Wisely 

Social media and the culture of consumerism actively promote the notion that you should care about everything. They try to convince you that you are inadequate and in need of a new car, a bigger house, a more attractive partner, a trendy haircut, or an exotic vacation to be accepted by your peers, and society, or to feel worthy. They push this narrative because it is profitable. However, the problem with caring about everything is that it can be detrimental to your mental health. By targeting your deepest insecurities and vulnerabilities, they compel you to believe that the only way to address them is by purchasing more material possessions. This, in turn, leads you to develop an unhealthy attachment to superficiality and falsehood, causing you to spend your life chasing illusory happiness and satisfaction. The key to living a good life is to value your "fucks" (i.e., your attention and energy) and be judicious in how you distribute them. Rather than wasting them on trivial matters, focus on what is truly important in your life.

Lesson#5 Prioritize Your Struggles

When asked about what they want in life, many people will list off a variety of desires and goals. However, the root cause of our unhappiness is often our inability or unwillingness to endure the necessary struggles and pains required to achieve those aspirations.

For example, many people desire to have six-pack abs, but they are not willing to tolerate the pain of doing hundreds of crunches or following a strict diet. Similarly, individuals may crave a healthy and fulfilling relationship, yet they are unwilling to face the difficult conversations, uncomfortable silences, and emotional or psychological pain that comes with it.

The key is to prioritize your struggles and recognize that the things worth having in life will require effort and discomfort. By focusing your energy on the most meaningful and worthwhile challenges, you can cultivate a sense of purpose and fulfillment.
